Beau Bridges, de son vrai nom Lloyd Vernet Bridges III, né le 9 décembre 1941 à Hollywood, Los Angeles, Californie, est un acteur, producteur et réalisateur américain.
Il a grandi à Hollywood. Son père était le célèbre acteur Lloyd Bridges marié avec Dorothy Bean Bridges. Il a deux jeunes frères dont un est né et décédé en 1948 de la mort subite du nourrisson. Son autre frère est l'acteur Jeff Bridges né en 1949, et sa sœur Lucinda « Cindy » Bridges née en 1950 actrice aussi.
Il a fait sa première année d'études à l'UCLA avant d'être recruté par l'université d'Hawaii grâce à ses dons de basketteur. Il a vite abandonné pour se consacré à la comédie.
Il a débuté sa carrière d'acteur à l'âge de 19 ans
Beau a fait ses premiers pas dans le film Force of evil à l'âge de 7 ans. C'est en 1960 que sa carrière a vraiment décollé. Il s'est fait connaître grâce aux séries. Tout d'abord en 1962 avec Ensign O'Toole, en 1980 dans United States, puis Maximum Bob en 1998. C'est en 2005 qu'il atteint la notoriété en jouant dans le spin off Stargate Atlantis avant d'intégrer la série mère Stargate SG-1 avec son rôle du général Landry. Il est apparu dans Earl, Desperate housewife, Brothers & Sisters et White Collar. On a pu le voir aussi entre 2010 et 2019 jouer dans Masters of sex, Bloodline et Homeland.
Pendant toutes ces années au cinéma, il a joué des petits rôles tout comme dans des téléfilms. En 2018, il a joué dans Galveston, Lawless-range et bien d'autres auparavant.
Beau a fait du doublage pour des séries et films d'animation.
Il a d'abord été marié à Julie Landifield. Après avoir adopté Casey, ils ont eu un autre fils prénommé Jordan. Avec sa seconde femme, Wendy Treece Bridges, ils ont trois enfants : Dylan, Emily et Ezekiel Jeffry. Il est aussi grand-père et le petit dernier est né en 2018.
Il pratique la guitare tout en collectionnant les instruments amérindiens. Il fait du surf, est très doué en natation et adore l'océan.
Très rapidement, ses parents le surnomment Beau d’après le nom du fils d’Ashley Wilkes dans le livre Autant en Emporte le Vent.
Il a joué dans Au-delà du réél, l'aventure continue avec son père et son fils Dylan et a tourné cinq fois avec son père.
Depuis 2003, il a son étoile sur la célèbre Walk of fame non loin de celles de son père et de son frère.
