Ian McNeice, né le 2 octobre 1950 à Basingstoke, Hampshire, en Angleterre, un acteur anglais mondialement reconnu.
Il a d'abord étudié, en tant qu'acteur, à l'école Taunton dans le Somerset, puis à la "London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art" (LAMDA), et pendant deux ans au théâtre de Salisbury. Ian McNeice travaille dans le théâtre les années suivantes et sa carrière compte quatre ans avec la Royal Shakespeare Company.
Plus tard, il se lance dans la télévision, et joue dans plusieurs séries télé, dont Edge of Darkness en 1985.
Ses films les plus importants sont Absolom 2022, Ace Ventura en Afrique et From Hell.
En 2003, il incarne le terrible Baron Vladimir Harkonnen dans la mini-série Children of Dune.
De 2005 à 2007, il incarne un orateur dans Rome. En 2007, Ian McNeice fait ses débuts dans Doctor Who, dans la production de Big Finish BBC Digital Radio 7, le drame Immortal Beloved, dans le rôle du méchant Zeus. Puis en 2010 et 2011, il revient dans la série, pour quatre épisodes, dans le rôle de Winston Churchill, un ami du Docteur qui a recourt à son aide. Il reprend ce rôle en 2016 dans le court-métrage Tale of a Timelord, puis dans la série audio The Churchill years en 2016 et 2018.
Mais son rôle le plus important demeure Bert Large, qu'il joue depuis 2004 dans la série Doc Martin.
