John Carroll Lynch, né le 1er août 1963 à Boulder, Colorado (États-Unis), est un acteur et réalisateur américain.
John Carroll Lynch a fréquenté le lycée jésuite Regis à Denver.
Il a étudié le théâtre à l'Université catholique d'Amérique et a obtenu un baccalauréat en beaux-arts en 1986.
Lynch a fait ses débuts au cinéma dans Grumpy Old Men en 1993.
En 1996, il est acclamé par la critique pour son rôle de Norm Gunderson dans le film Fargo. Il s'impose au cinéma dans plusieurs films à succès, notamment Zodiac, Gothika ou encore Shutter Island.
Après, il s'est fait connaitre à la télévision pour son rôle dans Le Drew Carey Show, où il interprétait le frère travesti de Drew, mari de Mimi de 1997 à 2004.
Il a également été un membre régulier de séries telles que Close to Home, Carnivale, Body of Proof, de 2011 à 2013 où il tient le rôle de Bud Morris dans les 3 saisons et des saisons 4, 5, 7 et 9 d'American Horror Story.
John Carroll Lynch est marié à l'actrice Brenda Wehle depuis 1997.
