Nigel Allan Havers, né le 6 novembre 1949 à Londres, est un acteur et réalisateur britannique.

 

Enfance

Ses parents se nomment Carol Lay Havers et Michael Havers. Il a un frère et une sœur, Philip et Kate.

 

Carrière

Il a fait sa première apparition à la télé en 1972 dans le film Pope Joan. S'il a enchaîné de nombreux rôles dans les téléfilms, il est à ce jour surtout connu pour avoir interpréter le rôle de Lord Andrew Lindsay dans le film Les Chariots de Feuen en 1981. Aujourd'hui, l'acteur confie regretter de ne pas s'être installer à Hollywood après le succès de ce film, qui aurait pu lui ouvrir de nombreuses portes.

Toutefois, dans les années 80, il est à l’affiche de A Passage to India en 1984, Empire of the Sun en 1987 ou encore de Farewell to the King en 1989 en parallèle de son rôle dans la série Don't Wait Up.

Nigel fait partie de la mini-série BBC Sleepers en 1991 aux côtés de Warren Clarke. Il est également au générique de la mini-série A Perfect Hero.

Par la suite, il se fait plus rare au début des années 2000. Puis en 2009, il revient à la télévision en interprétant le rôle de Roger Grant dans la série américaine Brothers & Sisters puis dans The Sarah Jane Adventures, la série dérivée de Doctor Who.

La même année, il intègre également le casting du soap britannique Coronation Street. Après un premier départ, il reprend son rôle de Lewis archer en 2012, puis en 2018 et 2019.

En 2011, il joue en guest-star dans l’épisode Noel de Downton Abbey, puis en 2014, il joue Tony Pebble dans la comédie The Life of Rock, avec Brian Pern. En 2017, Nigle apparait dans la neuvième saison de la sitcom Benidorm.

Il joue en 2019 dans la comédie The reluctant landlord et dans Inspecteur Barnaby. De 2019 à 2021, il incarne Larry dans la série The cockfields. Il participe aussi en 2021 à la série dramatique Finding Alice.

Entre 2017 et 2022, il apparait dans trois épisodes de la série Better Things.

 

Vie privée

Il a été marié à Carolyn Cox de 1974 à 1989 avec qui il a eu une fille Kate, née en 1977. En 1989, il a épousé à Polly Williams. Sa femme est décédée d’un cancer en 2004. Depuis 2007, il est marié à Georgiana Bronfman.

En octobre 2006, il a publié son autobiographie Playing With Fire.

Anecdotes

• Il a fait partie des passagers du dernier vol du Concorde de British Airways qui a décolé le 30 août 2003 de Barbade.
• Il est le parrain du comédien Jack Whitehall.
• Il mesure 1m78.
• En novembre 2010 il participe à I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! saison 10. Mais le jour 9 il doit abandonner l'aventure. Il est la première célébrité à quitter le camp.
