HM #014 - Interview Ainsley Ross

You are an actress, singer, model, martial artist, influencer, writer and director. When did you know that you wanted to take the artistic path? What kind of training have you had?

I began musical theatre and martial arts at the age of 9. By the time I was eleven, I knew I wanted to pursue these art-forms as a career. With that choice came rigorous training throughout many years. These include Method acting, Meisner, Improv, Uta Hagen method, Sitcom, Comedic, etc. I have trained with a wide variety of coaches throughout the years. For singing, I was blessed to work with the infamous Mrs. McPhee as my vocal coach. She taught me how to use my voice in a way that I couldn’t imagine! I continue to attend multiple seminars and classes always improving upon my crafts. The same applies to modeling. Training within these art forms, I went through over one hundred rigorous modules, educating myself on every part of the industry.

Your roles are often related to singing or martial arts. Is playing an additional way to develop your art or is it a passion equal to others?

Honestly, I can’t choose one art form over another because they each have a very specific role in the makeup of who I am and the passion I have for the industry. I am very thankful that I have attained acting roles that incorporate all of my art forms!

You are part of the casting of Should I Do It ?, a very committed mini-series still unreleased in France, which highlights many problems that are, today more than ever, topical. Could you present it to us?

Should I Do it deals with real-world problems such as popularity, drugs, the arts, addiction, relationships, and, most importantly, communication. It is a show of intrigue, mystery, celebration, and performance. My character, Mia Hill, will take you on a roller coaster ride of emotions. At first, you will view my character negatively, but then you will realize why she is the way she is. Follow @watchshouldidoit on Instagram to keep up with updates to come!

You regularly participate in charities. Where does this commitment come from?

Charities are my soul food. When you give back, you are a part of something bigger than yourself. You are a part of a greater cause in life. I have always been involved in acts of community service and charities. It comes from my heart. I started getting more involved in Los Angeles, when I was asked to attend the red carpets on behalf of the organizations. It was then when I truly fell in love with so many and continued long after the red carpet was removed and the lights went down. Giving back isn’t about the lights, cameras or action…. It’s about being involved in something way bigger than yourself. I do however love when celebrities share their hearts and actions, using their platforms positively and encouraging others to get involved.

Has the current pandemic disrupted your artistic projects?

It has postponed the projects that I am blessed to be a part of in pre-production currently. However, it is all about perspective. I am allowing this pandemic to fuel and propel my creativity and content creation.

As a spectator, which TV series do you like to watch?

“The Outerbanks,” “Car Masters; Rust to Riches” and “The Medium”

What are your sources of inspiration?

There are so many. Everywhere I look or go is an inspiration to me. Sometimes it’s a memory, a place, a smell, or a feeling. Most of the emotions and life events that occurred throughout school etc. inspired me to be the voice others could hear and relate to.

You are passionate about travel. What is your favorite destination? Have you ever visited France?

I have never visited France. I have always wanted too, though! My ideal destination would have to be Cape May, New Jersey.
