Huey Lewis, de son vrai nom Hugh Anthony Cregg III, né le 5 juillet 1950 à New york, est un musicien et acteur américain.
Originaire de New York, Huey a des origines irlandaises par son père et polandaises par sa mère. Il a été élevé en Californie jusqu'au divorce de ses parents, il a alors 13 ans quand il atterri dans le New Jersey où il sera diplômé. Il a été à l'université de Cornell après avoir obtenu la note parfaite de 800 à la partie Mathématique du SAT.
Huey est avant tout musicien. Il a fait partie du groupe Clover de 1972 à 1979 puis du groupe Huey Lewis and the News à partir de 1979. Au sein du groupe, Huey a un rôle important. Il est le chanteur principal du groupe mais c'est lui aussi qui a écrit ou co-écrit la plupart des titres du groupe. Il joue également de l'harmonica.
Occasionnellement, Huey se prête au jeu d'acteur dans des films tel que Retour dans le Futur en 1985 ou encore La dernière preuve en 1998.
En 2004, il interprète le père d’Haley James pour deux épisodes dans la série One Tree Hill. En 2010, il joue Johnny Revere dans quelques épisodes de Hot in Cleveland. A partir de 2017, il prête sa voix pour le personnage de Bulworth dans Le monde de Bingo et Rolly.
Huey vit dans un ranch vers Stevensville dans le Montana.
Il s’est marié avec Sidney Conroy, la secrétaire de son manager, en 1983 avec qui il a deux enfants : Kelly et Austin. Le couple se sépare six ans plus tard.
