HM #017 - Interview Alondra Delgado

You are one of the new members of the cast in the third season of the All American series [aired on Mondays on The CW and available 24 hours later on the French platform Salto], can you introduce your character Vanessa Montes?

Vanessa is the new girl in High School. She is very confident and knows what she wants. She met one of the characters over the summer and did not expect to see him again. Now her appearance at Beverly High is causing a lot of drama and trouble.

You joined the cast in the middle of a pandemic. How did the first days of filming go?

It was a different, yet great experience. We had to be in our trailers a lot, always wear a mask, and stay six feet apart but we managed to still find ways to have fun and get to know each other.

The series focuses on the lives of young high school students, but also on American football. Do you like this sport?

I've never been a sports person, but thanks to my friends and family, I've learned a lot more about football lately and now I can sit down and watch it because I understand it better. Honestly, when I started watching All American two years ago I got more interested in it, and now I'm on a football show!

You also recur in the series Mayans M.C., which is in a totally different register than All American. What do you enjoy about this role?

It is definitely way different. I love Mayans M.C. because it is a show where almost everyone is Hispanic, so we get to represent our culture and who we are. My character, Monica, is one of the young rebels. She is a kid, like many kids out there, who is forced to grow up a lot sooner and deal with difficult adult situations too big for her age. I love that I can represent that and get outside my comfort zone for it.

In addition to being an actress, you also wrote two short films [A Will to Love and Bygone] and produced one of them [Bygone]. How did this desire to write come about?

I've always enjoyed writing. I love writing poems and stories. Bygone came to me as a mental picture I had of waking up with blood on my hands, and I just started writing and came up with this short film that won many awards. Now I definitely want to write more!

Would you like to continue writing and maybe participate in the writing of an episode of a television series for example?

Of course! There are so many stories that still need to be told. I would love to do so and I am currently working on a few things.

You will soon be the leading role of the film Safe House. Can you present the film to us?

I am very excited for this film. You get to see me in a different environment. It is an action film so you get to see me run, fall, and do my own stunts. My character, Carla, has a big heart and is very intelligent so I am looking forward to all the new opportunities this will bring.

You were born and raised in Puerto Rico. Have you ever had the opportunity to travel to other countries?

I travel to Puerto Rico every year. I had plans to go to Europe in 2021 but had to cancel. When I was filming Safe House I got to go to Mexico and film the beginning of the movie over there, and it was an amazing experience that I'll never forget. I loved it!

Do you have any new projects in progress?

Aside from Safe House there is another film I’m in called Aimee, and I'm excited to see what the future brings next!
