Gary Cole, né le 20 septembre 1956 à Park Ridge, dans l'Illinois (États-Unis), est un acteur américain.
Fils d'un père administrateur scolaire et d'une mère directrice en finance, Gary Cole a fréquenté la Rolling Meadows High School, où sa première apparition théâtrale a été Snoopy dans la production du lycée de You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown.
Il a plus tard fréquenté l'université de l'Illinois (Illinois State University) où il s'est specialisé en théâtre.
Une fois diplômé de l’Illinois State, il part en 1983 pour Chicago où il débute sa carrière d’acteur avec la compagnie Steppenwolf Theatre. Parallèlement à sa carrière sur les planches il obtient son premier rôle devant une caméra la même année, dans le téléfilm Heart of Steel.
Côté vie privée il est marié depuis 1992 à Teddi Siddall avec qui il a une fille, Mary, qui est autiste.
