Julian Richings, né le 8 septembre 1955 à Londres, est un acteur anglo-canadien.
Julian Richings suit des études de théâtre à l'université d'Exeter.
Après ses études il part en tournée avec une troupe dans toute l'Amérique du Nord. En 1984, il s'installe à Toronto.
Installé à Toronto, Julian Richings fait plusieurs apparitions dans des productions canadiennes pour le cinéma et la télévision, et participe également à plusieurs pièces de théâtre du pays.
Depuis 1990 il est apparu dans plus de 225 films et séries télévisées.
En 1990 il obtient son premier rôle récurent dans la série La Guerre des mondes.
En 1996 il interprète un chanteur de punk rock dans le film Hard Core Logo. L’année suivante il joue dans le film d’horreur Cube.
En 2004 il joue Otto, un garde de sécurité, dans la série horrifique Kingdom Hospital, créée par Stephen King.
En 2006, il apparait en tant qu’organisateur du théâtre mutant dans le film X-Men : L'Affrontement final.
En 2010, il incarne Mort (Death en VO), l’un des quatre cavaliers de l’Apocalypse dans la saison 5 de la série Supernatural. Il reprend son rôle dans les saisons 6, 7, 9 et 10.
En 2013 il est un kryptonien dans le film Man of Steel.
En 2014 il est Benjamin Kertland dans la saison 2 de la série Orphan Black. Il reprend son rôle dans la saison 4.
En 2015 il joue un gouverneur dans le film d'horreur The Witch.
En 2019 il incarne le mystérieux directeur de l'Hôtel Obsidian dans la série Umbrella Academy.
Julian donne des cours de théâtre.
Il vit à Toronto, avec sa femme et ses deux enfants.
