Peter Vaughan de son vrai nom Peter Olm, né le 4 avril 1923 à Wem dans le Shropshire en Angleterre et mort le 6 décembre 2016 à Mannings Heath dans le West Sussex en Angleterre, était un acteur anglais.

Carrière

Après une jeunesse tranquille et sans histoire et après la fin de ses études, Peter a rejoint une troupe de théâtre avec laquelle il a développé son talent de comédien en enchaînant les rôles sur les planches.
Peter a ensuite abandonné un temps la comédie et est parti faire son service militaire.
En 1959, Peter commence à jouer au cinéma et il enchaîne par la suite les petits rôles à la télé et sur grand écran. Il faudra attendre 1964, pour voir Peter en haut de l'affiche dans le film Smokescreen. C'est grâce à sa performance dans la série Porridge qu'il reçoit la reconnaissance du grand public.
Après ça, Peter va continuer à tourner dans bon nombre de films et séries et va jouer avec de grands acteurs et réalisateurs tels Anthony Hopkins dans The Remains of the Day (1993), Terry Gilliam dans Time Bandits et Brazil ou Bill Murray dans Straw Dogs.
On a ensuite pu voir Peter dans un téléfilm de Sherlock Holmes et dans un téléfilm pour la BBC Silk.
Et en 2011, Peter est apparu dans la série évènement Game of Thrones dans le rôle de Mestre Aemon.

Vie privée

Peter a été marié deux fois. La première fois avec l'actrice Billie Whitelaw de 1952 à 1966. Et la deuxième fois, dès 1966, son épouse est l'actrice Lillias Walker avec qui il a vécu à Mannings dans le West Sussex jusqu'à la fin de sa vie.

Il meurt entouré de sa famille le 6 Décembre 2016 à l'âge de 93 ans.
