James Thomas Byrnes (dit Jim Byrnes), né le 22 septembre 1948 à Saint-Louis, Missouri, Etats-Unis, est un acteur et chanteur américain.
Il commence à jouer du piano à 5 ans et prend des cours de chant et de guitare à 13. Au cours de l'été 1964, Jim donne son premier concert professionnel.
En 1970, après quelques années de galère au cours desquelles il enchaîne des petits boulots, Jim déménage à Vancouver.
Le 26 février 1972 est une date qui le marquera à vie puisqu'il est heurté par une voiture alors qu'il tentait d'aider un ami à déplacer un camion en panne. Grièvement blessé, Jim perdra ses deux jambes.
Malgré son handicap, Jim décroche son premier rôle en 1980 dans le film Out of the Blue.
En 1992, il obtient le rôle de Joe Dawson dans la série Highlander et ses dérivés. A côté, il interprète de petits rôles dans des séries télévisées ou des films.
